– By BrainADZ Exhibits Team

Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) has revealed its 2023 results, showcasing a significant surge in international attendance with 2.47 million visitors, marking a 25% increase from the previous year. The growth was propelled by 301 MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) and consumer events, reflecting a 23% rise compared to the previous year.

The upswing in visitors underscores the diverse calendar of DWTC, highlighted by 107 exhibitions, international association conventions, and industry conferences. These events collectively drew 1.56 million attendees, with a remarkable 33% increase year-on-year. Notably, international attendees reached 722,000, marking a substantial 60% growth from the previous year. These events featured participation from 53,789 exhibiting companies, with 78% of them being international.

The increase in foreign business attendees aligns with Dubai’s D33 Agenda, aimed at positioning the emirate as a top-three global economic city by 2033.

DWTC also hosted 35 entertainment, live, and leisure events, attracting over 850,000 visitors collectively.

H.E. Helal Saeed Almarri, director-general of Dubai World Trade Centre Authority, emphasized the robust dynamics of Dubai’s economy and its strategic focus on key industry sectors. He highlighted Dubai’s leading status as a global hub for knowledge, innovation, and business.

DWTC welcomed 33 new events to its calendar in 2023, including exhibitions, international association conventions, and conferences. These events collectively drew nearly 95,000 participants and over 2,000 exhibiting companies. Notable additions included World of Coffee, World Police Summit, and Seatrade Maritime Logistics Middle East.

Flagship events such as GITEX Global and Gulfood maintained their leadership positions in their sectors, experiencing significant growth in visitors by 44% and 31% respectively.

GITEX Global expanded to a city-wide scale, hosting over 7,200 exhibitors and attracting 245,000 attendees. Gulfood, a crucial platform for food and beverage producers, welcomed over 134,000 trade visitors and showcased 5,200 exhibitors.

DWTC’s global expansion efforts included the successful launch of GITEX Africa and Saudi Food Show in 2023. GITEX Africa in Morocco emerged as the largest tech and start-up show in Africa, attracting attendees from 128 countries.

The Healthcare, Medical, and Scientific sector emerged as the top-performing industry at DWTC, followed by Information Technology and Food, Hotel, and Catering sectors.
